Major: BMB & Psychology

Graduation Year: 2024

Favorite Place on Campus: CAS ThinkTank (aka the Fishbowl)

Hi everyone! My name is Tyler Critz and I’m a senior from New Hampshire currently studying Biochemistry and Psychology. I’ve been a part of CAS Student Government for two years now both working on the financial affairs committee and serving as the VP of Financial Affairs this past year. My favorite part has always been the community aspect and feel of working with student government, some of my close friends are people I never would have met if not for the wonderful CAS StuGov community. Looking forward to next year, I’m hoping to continue serving the CAS community and keep the ball rolling on so many of the awesome student-centered projects from this year. Outside of campus life, you can find me running on the esplanade or performing an in-depth analysis of Boston cafes searching for the best coffee cake and chocolate croissant available.

Initiatives:

  • Continue to foster a CAS community through events and advocacy issues.

  • Make StuGov more transparent and provide easier access to E-board.

  • Work more closely with other CAS clubs to enhance their own work and provide a larger impact on the CAS community.

  • Provide a better connection point between CAS students and CAS administration

Hometown: Boca Raton, FL

Major: Political Science & Internal Relations

Graduation Year: 2026

Favorite Place on Campus: BU Beach

Heyyy everyone! My name is Jordyn Segal and I am a second year student from south Florida majoring in Political Science and International Relations. I am currently a member of the Advocacy branch of CAS Student Government and am Senator representing CAS in BU Student Government. My favorite part of CAS StuGov is being a part of advocacy initiatives and watching them manifest into tangible action. Outside of Student Government, I am a member of MUN@BU’s competitive travel team and a part of Greek life. In Boston, you can find me visiting art museums or taking walks on and around campus. CAS Student Government has introduced me to so many amazing and inspiring people who all want to better the CAS and BU community. Being a part of the CAS StuGov community has been the highlight of my experience at BU and I am beyond excited to see what next year brings!

Initiatives:

  • Work with every advocacy member on their initiatives and create a more open and collaborative environment

  • Hold two short meetings a week to keep everyone up to date with the state of initiatives and to encourage consistent progress

  • Have advocacy be more involved with the CAS community and develop their initiatives around the needs of the CAS student body

VP of Student Affairs

Matthew Lutkins

mlutkins@bu.edu

Hometown: Camp Hill, PA

Major: Sociology & Economics

Graduation Year: 2025

Favorite Place on Campus: Law Building

Hey everyone! My name is Matt Lutkins and I am a junior studying Sociology and Economics. I’ve been an active member of CAS Student Government since my freshman year, first being a member of the Student Affairs committee and then serving as the Vice President of Student Affairs this past year. CAS Student Government has provided me with a community like no other: I’ve made some of my best friends through planning different events and have had the opportunity to meet a diverse range of peers, professors, and other professionals all around Boston. Whether it be a Charles River Sunset Cruise, BU Beach Carnival, or a movie night, it’s been an absolute pleasure organizing events and fostering a newfound sense of togetherness among the CAS student body. Next year, I’m excited to coordinate even more events for the CAS students and increase our connections with other CAS-affiliated clubs to host more integrated functions together. Outside of class, you can find me photographing concerts, exploring the city of Boston, discovering new bagel shops and bakeries, as well as practicing my Italian skills in the North End.

Initiatives:

  • Continue planning semestral and annual CAS events, such as the Beach Ball Carnival, CASino Night, Charles Riverboat Cruises, Merch Weeks, movie nights, and more!

  • Diversify our event sequences in order to appeal to a wider range of students

  • Continue hosting Speaker Sessions in order to educate the CAS community about pressing, worldly issues

  • Host even bigger and better events!

VP of Internal Affairs

Tejas Kaur

tejask@bu.edu

Hometown: New Dehli, India

Major: Economics & Mathematics

Graduation Year: 2025

Favorite Place on Campus: Yawkey 4th Floor

Hey! My name is Tejas Kaur, and I’m a junior studying Economics and Mathematics. I’ve been a part of CAS Student Government since freshman year, first as a committee member, and now I have been serving as the VP of Internal Affairs for almost 3 semesters. CAS Student Government has always been such a great community, and I’ve made some of my closest friends by being a part of this great organization. The progression that we’ve seen on all our digital media platforms is amazing and unmatched, and I hope to continue the growth and consistency. I’m looking forward to improving our website’s accessibility, newsletter’s readability, and supporting more clubs that can benefit from advertising. I’m also looking forward to more merch! Outside of school, you can find me exploring coffee and ice cream shops, going to concerts, taking long walks around Boston with friends, crocheting, and spending time doing digital art.

Initiatives:

  • Continue to grow our digital platforms by making them more fun and accessible, and build a tight-knit community within CAS

  • Work with other CAS clubs for advertising to give them support and build better connections

  • Start more initiatives that keep the CAS community involved and informed about the happenings in the school

VP of Financial Affairs

Alex Higgins

alexhigg@bu.edu

Hometown: Champlin, MN

Major: Economics

Graduation Year: 2024

Favorite Place on Campus: Law Cafe

Hey! My name is Alex Higgins and I’m a junior from Minnesota. I’m currently studying Economics with a minor in Business. I have been a member of the CAS StuGov Financial Affairs Committee for both of the years I’ve been at BU and I have enjoyed every minute of it. From working with other branches of student government and helping run events to having been a member of a club that benefits from CAS funding, my experience in StuGov has been one I’ll never forget. As a candidate for next year’s leadership team, I look forward to having the opportunity to expand the impact CAS-related clubs have on both the CAS and wider BU community. By becoming more transparent and actively involved with clubs, I truly believe that the Financial Affairs Committee, working hand-in-hand with the other branches, can help ensure every club has the opportunity and resources it needs to achieve its goals. I’m looking forward to a great 2023-2024 year and can’t wait to see what we can achieve!

Initiatives:

  • Reach out to clubs that do not traditionally/have not historically received funding from CAS Student Government, making any CAS related club experience better for everyone!

  • Work directly with other branches of student government, identifying issues in and actively working to improve the BU and CAS student experience

  • Surpass last year’s funding amount and expand our impact!
